BEAR IN MIND
YOU ARE
MEANT TO
THRIVE,
NOT JUST
SURVIVE.
BearMind Therapy is here to provide a grounded, collaborative approach to psychotherapy for individuals and couples in Muskoka, Ontario.
The way I approach therapy is to work together to understand how your mind learned to survive, what those patterns are trying to protect, and how they may no longer be serving you.
Whether we're exploring relationships, trauma, ADHD, anxiety, or identity, the goal isn't to become someone different. It's to become more fully yourself.
Therapy shouldn't feel like someone is trying to fix you.
I'm Dan Simon, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a passion for helping people better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and create meaningful change.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity. Rather than seeing people as broken, I see the ways they've adapted to life's challenges. Together, we'll make sense of those patterns, discover what they need, and begin building new ways of moving through the world.
Hi, I’m Dan.
“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable.
When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
Fred Rogers
Therapy begins by putting words to experiences that may have felt confusing, overwhelming, or impossible to carry alone.
How Can I Help?
Every person arrives at therapy with a different story. Some are trying to better understand themselves. Others are trying to reconnect with someone they love. Whatever brings you here, therapy offers an opportunity to slow down, make sense of what's happening beneath the surface, and begin creating meaningful, lasting change.

Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a space to better understand yourself, your relationships, and the patterns that shape your life. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, grief, or a major life transition, we'll work together to explore what makes sense, what no longer serves you, and what growth could look like moving forward.
Couples Therapy
Relationships don't become stronger by avoiding conflict. They grow through understanding, repair, and learning how to turn toward one another, even during difficult seasons. Couples therapy helps identify the patterns keeping you stuck so that you can begin working together instead of against each other.
BearMind Library
Therapy doesn't begin and end in the therapy room. One of the goals of BearMind is to make psychology more approachable by exploring the ideas, books, and conversations that shape the way we understand ourselves and one another.
Browse articles, essays, book reviews, and reflections on mental health, relationships, neuroscience, philosophy, and the stories we tell about ourselves.

How to Book
Finding the right therapist is about more than credentials or therapeutic approaches. It's about finding someone you feel comfortable talking to and a process that feels right for you.
That's why I offer a free 30-minute virtual consultation. It's an opportunity for us to get to know one another, talk about what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and decide together whether this feels like the right fit.
Whether you're looking for individual therapy, couples therapy, or simply wondering if I’m the right fit, I'd be happy to start with a conversation.
